The 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings covers 104 universities in 1,500 countries and regions, and reflects over 1,750 million academic papers and the opinions of over 24 academic and business people.QS has also made a major overhaul of how it evaluates rankings.Three new indicators, sustainability, employment results, and international research networks, have been added to the evaluation items, and the conventional indicators such as evaluation by academics, evaluation by companies, and student-to-faculty ratio have been revised. According to QS senior vice president BenSowter, modern universities are being asked to focus more than ever on sustainability, promoting international research and helping graduates find jobs in order to meet global challenges. The University of Tokyo (28th) is the only Japanese university to enter the top 30 in the world.In Asia, it ranks 8th after the National University of Singapore (17th), Peking University (25th), and Tsinghua University (4th).The University of Tokyo is ranked in the top 3 in the world in three major indexes (recognition by academics, evaluation by companies, and sustainability).In particular, it was ranked fifth in the world in terms of sustainability index.
