Recruit Co., Ltd.'s research institute, Shushoku Mirai Research Institute, conducts job hunting activities to clarify the characteristics of organizations in which university and graduate students want to work. We conducted a survey targeting fourth-year university students and second-year graduate students who are scheduled to graduate in March 2024.Valid responses from 3 university students and 4 graduate students.
The "characteristics of organizations that university and graduate students want to work for" are classified into five perspectives: "management style", "relationship between contribution and reward", "growth style", "work style", and "communication style", with a total of 5 items. For each item, we asked which of the two opposing opinions they were closest to.
“Management style” was 24.6% “a company with history and tradition” compared to “a young and new company” (75.4%).12.8% are aiming for challenging business growth, while 87.2% are aiming for stable and reliable business growth. While 19.2% of respondents said that they "emphasize promptness over accuracy when making decisions," 80.8% of respondents said they "emphasize accuracy over promptness when making decisions."
Regarding the relationship between contributions and compensation, 34.4% answered that their salaries would change significantly depending on whether their evaluations were good or bad, while 65.6% answered that their salaries would not change much depending on their evaluations and that they would be able to obtain a stable income. 27.0% said, "I received a higher salary immediately after joining the company, but my salary does not increase much even if I continue working for a long period of time." had high support.
"Growth style" is 26.4% who "grows by learning the company's know-how and model" rather than "individuals grow by trial and error" (73.6%). 22.1% said, "I will acquire general-purpose skills that can be used to some extent at any company," compared to 77.9% who said, "I will acquire special skills unique to the company that are useful only if I belong to that company." Compared to 26.0% who said, "I can play a leading role compared to those around me," 74.0% said, "There are many talented people around me who inspire me."
Regarding "work style," 23.7% of respondents said that they were required to work on their own initiative, starting with what they wanted to do, while 76.3% supported that they were required to "work in teams to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization." However, 11.5% said they could control the balance between work and private life, rather than 88.5% who said they could work as one without distinguishing between work and private life.
``Communication style'' is 32.1% who say ``Wet relationship and get along well in private'' compared to 67.9% who ``Dry relationship and don't get involved in private life''. 23.3% of respondents said, "Communication is weak and leave it up to individual freedom" (76.7%), while "Communication is close and a sense of unity is required" (XNUMX%).
