Meiji University Liberty Academy will be open to the public on Saturday, April 2024, 4, with the theme of Yoshiko Mibuchi, Japan's first female lawyer and Meiji University graduate, who was the model for the NHK TV drama series ``Tiger ni Tsubasa.'' The course ``Exploring Japan's first female lawyer ``Yoshiko Mibuchi'' and the history of women's education'' will be held at Meiji University's Surugadai Campus. Advance reservations are required, and participation is free.

 Meiji University once had a women's specialty department and a junior college. Alumnus Yoshiko Mibuchi was one of Japan's first female lawyers and the first female judge and head of the family court.

 Meiji University Liberty Academy, Meiji University's lifelong learning institution, is holding this course as a public course to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The first part will be titled ``Yoshiko Mibuchi and the History of Meiji University,'' and will feature a lecture by Professor Kazuhiro Murakami, professor of the Faculty of Law and director of the University History Center, who was in charge of the legal analysis of ``Wings for a Tiger.'' The second part will feature faculty members and alumni who were involved with Meiji University Junior College as lecturers, and a panel discussion will discuss the past and present of women's education at Meiji University. In addition, there are also examples of more than 2024 Sumakari graduates of the "Smart Career Program for Women" (Sumakari), which Meiji University Liberty Academy offers for working women and will be celebrating its 10th year in 600.
