A joint research group of NTT DoCoMo, Inc., Keio University, and the University of Tokyo has developed a technology to estimate the concentration of the owner from how to use a smartphone.

 The Go / NoGo task is known as a method for objectively measuring a person's concentration. The Go / NoGo task is a task to judge two reactions, Go (for example, reacting to the specified letter P as quickly as possible) and NoGo (for example, suppressing the reaction with the specified letter X), and the speed of judgment. And accuracy, that is, suitable for quantifying concentration.

 However, in the working environment, it is not realistic to carry out Go / NoGo tasks on a regular basis to evaluate concentration.Therefore, in this research, we constructed a model that estimates the concentration of the owner from the usage of the smartphone by combining the big data of daily use of the smartphone and the data of the result of the Go / NoGo task.

 Smartphone data refers to sensor data such as acceleration, location information, and terminal usage such as screen ON / OFF.The research group quantified this as about 250 types of behavioral features (physical movements, movement patterns, frequency of application usage, etc.), and let AI learn the relationship with the same person's Go / NoGo task data.This made it possible to estimate concentration (success rate of Go / NoGo tasks) from behavioral features acquired from smartphones.

 In the validity evaluation analysis of this technology, it was confirmed that the success rate of Go / NoGo tasks can be estimated with an accuracy of about 34% on average for 74 people.Since you can estimate your concentration just by using your smartphone as usual, for example, a truck or bus driver can estimate the concentration of the day from the usage of the smartphone up to the previous day and take an appropriate break. Can be considered.In this way, it can be said that this technology can be expected to be used for changing the consciousness of each worker and reviewing inefficient working conditions while companies are promoting work style reforms.
