Rikkyo University opened a legal profession course in the Faculty of Law from 2021, and signed a legal profession training agreement with the law graduate schools of Keio University, Waseda University, and Chuo University. It replaces Rikkyo University's law graduate school, which has been suspended since 2018, and students of the legal profession course can take the examination of the partner law graduate school in a special frame.
According to Rikkyo University, the legal profession course is open for students who want to become lawyers, judges, and prosecutors, and is located within the Faculty of Law, Department of Law. Twenty people will be selected at the time of the second year promotion, a dedicated study place will be provided, a small number of people will take a practical curriculum, and the ability to create legal documents and solve cases will be cultivated.
If you meet the specified conditions, you can take advantage of the early graduation system that graduates from the undergraduate school at the end of the third year and goes on to the law school of the affiliated school. This is a new course that will support students who are aiming to take the bar examination in earnest.
Prior to the establishment of the legal profession course, Rikkyo University signed a partnership agreement with Keio University and Waseda University in October and with Chuo University in November.
Rikkyo University opened a law school in 2004 and produced 594 graduates.Of these, about 200 became lawyers, judges, and prosecutors, but the recruitment of students after 2018 has been suspended because the bar examination pass rate continues to be sluggish and the number of students continues to fall, and no improvement can be expected in the future.
