Lecturer Noriaki Fukushima of the Department of Public Health, Tokyo Medical University conducted an internet survey on the thoughts and actions of the general public regarding the prevention of new coronavirus infections during an outbreak. We reported on the hours of moderate and high-level physical activity in work at work and work from home.

Telework such as working from home was promoted due to the corona disaster, and home became one of the new workplaces for workers who used to work in the workplace.Long sitting hours and less medium-high physical activity time during work adversely affect the health of workers, but it is mostly reported how much the sitting time and medium-high physical activity time at work differ between work work and telecommuting. Not.

Therefore, in 2020, working from home became established as a new lifestyle in order to quantitatively clarify the difference between sitting time and mid-high physical activity time during work between workplace workers and teleworkers. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 7 men and women between the ages of 28 and 8 living in the Kanto region from July 2 to August 20.

As a result, workers who work from home spend about 76 minutes more sitting at work than workers who work at work, even if the differences in job type and working hours are adjusted, while the physical activity such as walking during work is longer. It was found that the time to move (medium and high intensity physical activity) was 27 minutes shorter.

It has been reported that long-term sitting behavior and frequent sitting conditions of 30 minutes or more pose a health risk such as increased mortality, new onset of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and over-sitting when working from home. There is a strong concern about health effects. In addition, the reason why the time to move the body is shortened by working from home is often thought of as the effect of not walking (medium-high physical activity) by commuting. It became clear that the decline was occurring.

Currently, telework is being promoted to curb the spread of infection, but at the same time, it is necessary to take measures against long-term sitting and lack of physical activity, which are health risks.
