Waseda University will start the "Waseda Sports BEYOND 125 Project" toward 2022, which is the 125th year since the physical education club (currently the Competitive Sports Center) was established at Tokyo Senmon Gakko, the predecessor of Waseda University.
Waseda University systematically promotes both literary and military arts, such as starting the "Waseda Athletes Program" in 2014, and produces global leaders who support society to become a new model for university sports, the sports world and better. We have aimed to contribute to social development.However, as the situation surrounding university sports changed drastically, there were also issues such as the absence of strategy for Waseda Sports as a whole and brand development.
Therefore, we will position 2022 as the beginning of the second century of Waseda Sports and develop the "Waseda Sports BEYOND 125 Project".As the overall strategy of the project, Waseda University will lead the transformation of Japanese university sports, maximize the joy (value) of stakeholders, foster a sense of unity inside and outside the university, and strengthen the foundation of Waseda Sports.
In 2020, the "common logo for all physical education departments" will be established as the kick-off of the project = Phase 0.In addition, we produced a project video in which students from various physical education departments appeared, and worked to foster a sense of unity inside and outside the university. From 2021 to 2025, as Phase 1, we will promote the development of merchandising, crowdfunding, and sports gifting platforms to deepen the sense of unity and fan engagement of "Waseda Sports."
Regarding the strengthening of merchandising, the basic agreement on organizational cooperation with ASICS Co., Ltd. and ASICS Japan Co., Ltd. was renewed for 2021 years on March 3, 1.In addition, it has decided to collaborate with Fanatics Japan LLC, a Japanese corporation of Fanatics Inc., a global leader in sports licensed goods sales, which is the first university outside of North America and the first university in Japan.
