Kyushu Institute of Technology announced that the space engineering education "BIRDS Satellite Development Project" for international students from emerging and developing countries has received the "GEDC Airbus Diversity Award 2017".
The Kyushu Institute of Technology's BIRDS satellite development project uses cost-effective and innovative system engineering to educate graduate students from developing countries and implements a two-year comprehensive satellite development project.The long-term goal of the project is to acquire knowledge and skills so that they can launch sustainable space development programs in their respective countries of origin.
Selected as one of the three finalist projects from 18 projects entered from 39 institutions in 45 countries, project manager Tejumola Taiwo (3rd year doctoral student at the same university, international student from Nigeria) He gave a presentation at the GEDC Annual Meeting in Niagara Falls, Canada.He won the championship based on evaluations based on criteria such as the influence and results of research and the possibility of scale expansion.
