On December 2017, 12, a symposium was held at Waseda University Science and Engineering Campus to commemorate the decision of the priority research areas of the Institute of Science and Engineering Research Institute. An overview of the seven cluster research institutes established within the Faculty of Science and Engineering Research Institute from 22 was reported, and the enthusiasm to promote world-class research was stated.
According to Waseda University, following the opening remarks by Vice President Shuji Hashimoto, Vice President Makoto Ando of Tokyo Institute of Technology "Research Reform of Tokyo Institute of Technology Looking at a Different Future", and Professor Hideo Inoue of Kanagawa Institute of Technology "Super He gave a keynote speech entitled "Intelligence of Cars for a Mature Society".
After that, there was a symposium that gathered researchers from priority research areas, and an overview of each area was explained and opinions were exchanged on issues for industry-academia-government collaboration.
Waseda University has selected 7 items such as robotics and information and communication technology as priority items, and will start a cluster research institute consisting of about 10 to 30 faculty members in April.The aim is to contribute to an ultra-smart society by promoting internationally accepted research and development with the full power of the university.
In the field of cutting-edge ICT infrastructure led by Professor Jiro Koto, we will proceed with the creation of next-generation computational models, and in frontier mechanical engineering led by Professor Hitoshi Kusaka, we will proceed with research aimed at building a smart society where things and people are connected.
