The University of Tokyo will hold a lecture for the general public on March 2019, 3 (Thursday), entitled "The 28st Open Lecture of the Faculty of Science, The University of Tokyo-Understanding the Mysteries of Life with Science".Admission is free and no prior application is required.We are also calling for the participation of high school and college students.
The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Science, Faculty of Science holds public lectures by faculty members to convey the appeal of science to the general public. The theme of this 31st anniversary is "Unraveling the mysteries of life through science."One lecture will be given from each of the three fields of physics, chemistry, and biological science.
The content is "Universality of Life Phenomena" by Professor Hideo Higuchi (Department of Physics), which introduces the universal principles of diverse and complex life phenomena, and various living cells with new photoanalysis techniques to solve the mystery of life. Professor Takemasa Ozawa (Department of Chemistry), "Exploring the Mystery of Life with Light-Optobio Analysis-", which introduces an example of imaging, considers a bipedal monkey as a model of early human beings and evolves erect bipedalism. Professor Naomichi Ogiwara (Department of Biological Sciences), who introduces the approaching attempt, is scheduled to give the above three lectures, "Exploring the evolution of erect bipedalism in humans from the analysis of monkey gait."
The venue is Yasuda Auditorium, Hongo Campus, University of Tokyo, and the holding time is from 14:00 to 17:00 (opening 13:00).Capacity 800 people (first-come-first-served basis on the day).In addition, the state of the lecture will be broadcast live on the YouTube Graduate School of Science / Faculty of Science channel.
