Professor Toshihiro Okubo of the Faculty of Economics, Keio University and the NIRA Research and Development Organization conducted the second telework fact-finding survey targeting workers nationwide. It was found that the efficiency of the professor decreased regardless of the use of telework.

The survey was conducted from June 6th to 5th via the Internet, and there were 18 responses, including 1 continuations from the first survey.According to it, the telework utilization rate is 8,407% on average nationwide as of March.Tokyo is the highest by prefecture at 1%, Kanagawa prefecture at 2,138%, Chiba prefecture at 3%, Saitama prefecture at 10%, and the three prefectures that make up the Tokyo area occupy the top positions.

17% of people who use public transportation for commuting have a high utilization rate, such as teleworking, and the longer the commuting time, the more likely they are to do teleworking. The usage rate by gender was 11% for men and 8% for women, which was higher for men who had a family and raised children. The larger the company, the higher the utilization rate, while the government offices tended to be extremely low.

Comparing the working hours of those who were teleworking as of March with those in January, the total working hours increased slightly.Work efficiency was reduced by 3-20%, partly due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. However, the longer the telework experience, the smaller the decrease in work efficiency, and the use of business chat and web conferencing tools led to improved work efficiency.
