In Japan, the in-house designer system that hires designers in-house is widespread, especially in large companies. However, there is a problem in how to evaluate designer human resources and in-house design organizations whose functions are significantly different from those of other departments / departments.

Regarding the quantitative evaluation of the in-house design organization, it is closely related to the evaluation of the business contribution of the design function to the management. In order to solve such problems and promote design management, it is necessary to develop a method for quantitatively evaluating the activities of design organizations from a common perspective across companies. Therefore, Sony Corporation Creative Center will develop an evaluation method at the Data Design Research Center of Hitotsubashi University in collaboration with Panasonic Corporation Design Headquarters and Fujitsu Limited Design Center.

At the Hitotsubashi University Data Design Research Center, based on the large-scale in-house survey system operated by Sony, Panasonic and Fujitsu also conducted similar in-house sample surveys and verifications, and based on the obtained data, advanced methods. Promote refinement and refinement. The three companies will jointly verify the effectiveness and establish a common evaluation method.

Ultimately, we aim to make it a method that can be widely used as a new quantitative management index by companies with an in-house design organization, and to utilize design as a resource for business contribution.
