A research group led by Professor Koichi Akashi of Kyushu University Graduate School revealed that people who have a fever after the second dose of the new coronavirus vaccine tend to have higher antibody titers. People with a high fever of 2 degrees or higher had an average antibody titer of about 38 times higher than those with a temperature of less than 37 degrees. In addition, even if an antipyretic analgesic was used after the appearance of a side reaction, sufficient immunity was obtained.
Pfizer's messenger RNA vaccine was first approved in Japan as a new coronavirus vaccine.Although highly effective, it is said that the frequency of side reactions such as fever is relatively high, and there are many cases of using antipyretic analgesics to alleviate symptoms. However, the relationship between the degree of side reactions and the strength of the antibody reaction after vaccination and the effect of the use of antipyretic analgesics on the antibody reaction have not been fully investigated.
With the cooperation of Fukuoka City Hospital, the research group measured the antibody titer of 335 staff members after two doses of Pfizer's new coronavirus vaccine, and investigated the degree of adverse reactions and the oral status of antipyretic analgesics. ..
As a result of the analysis, a sufficient antibody reaction was observed with two vaccinations regardless of the degree of side reaction, but those who had fever after the second vaccination tended to have higher antibody titers than those who did not. Among them, those who had a high fever of 2 degrees or higher had an average antibody titer of about 2 times that of those who had a fever of less than 38 degrees. In addition, after the appearance of adverse reactions, no adverse effects on the antibody reaction due to vaccination were observed even when standard antipyretic analgesics (acetaminophen, loxoprofen, etc.) were used.
The results of this study suggest that those who are afraid of adverse reactions and are refraining from vaccination with the new coronavirus may be provided with accurate information on adverse reactions and may contribute to raising awareness of vaccination.
