Seven national university corporations and eight national universities in the four prefectures of Aichi, Shizuoka, Gifu, and Mie established a new collaborative organization, the Tokai Region National University Collaboration Platform, and held its first meeting in Nagoya on January 4th. . As the business environment surrounding universities becomes increasingly difficult due to the declining birthrate, we will make full use of the strengths of the eight schools to strengthen our international competitiveness and form a scrum to raise external funds.

According to the Tokai National University Organization, the participating national universities are Nagoya University, Aichi University of Education, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Toyohashi University of Technology, Shizuoka University, Hamamatsu University of Medicine, Gifu University, and Mie University. The Tokai National University Organization, which operates Nagoya University and Gifu University, called for synergistic effects through wide-area collaboration and launched the initiative.

At the first meeting, a council of presidents was held. During the meeting, it was said that they would hold regular round-table meetings to search for research areas and other topics that could be collaborated on, and to move forward with preparations.

Japanese universities are facing a sharp decline in the number of 18-year-olds, and the number of students entering the university is expected to decline in the future. While it has been pointed out that research capacity has declined due to cuts in government operating expenses, the deteriorating management of university corporations has also emerged as an issue, and the university hopes to overcome this predicament by collaborating and sharing wisdom.
