The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science is based on the selection of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Award Judging Committee (Chair: Ryoji Noyori, Director of the Research and Development Strategy Center, Japan Science and Technology Agency), which is composed of top-level academic researchers in Japan.  The recipients of the award are doctors under the age of 45 (or those with academic research abilities equal to or higher than the doctors) in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, and are particularly academically superior due to their research achievements such as papers.  In 2017, 423 winners will be selected from 2017 candidates at the award judging committee on November 11, 1.The youngest award winners were Assistant Professor Sou Nakatani (25 years old, Faculty of Education, Shinshu University), who was evaluated for his research achievements in "elucidation of the concrete phase of national formation in late medieval Italy", and "Quantum by introducing gamma structure".
