The Yamaguchi University Joint Veterinary School has decided to procure animal models through crowdfunding, which collects donations from supporters, in order to create an environment where students aiming to become veterinarians can acquire skills without using experimental animals.The target amount is 200 million yen and will start on the 15th.
According to Yamaguchi University, the animal model to be procured is a full-scale horse inspection simulator.It is used for basic training for students and is used for acquiring skills such as physical examination, palpation, and drug administration of horses.By using the simulator for practical training, etc., it will be possible to make accurate diagnoses and measures when actually treating horses.
Crowdfunding will be carried out from the 15th to the end of March using the site operated by Lady Four (Tokyo, Haruka Mera, Naoki Hiura).
In veterinary practice, we used to use actual animals, but from the viewpoint of animal welfare, we have changed to not using living animals.The Yamaguchi University Joint Veterinary School also launched the Clinical Skill Lab in 2016 and is promoting the introduction of animal models to replace living organisms.
