Kagoshima University, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan McDonald's Co., Ltd., and Food Safety Management Co., Ltd. are collaborating on "cultivation of food safety specialists through industry-academia-government collaboration," and as part of this, education on food safety management at Kagoshima University. In the food industry, food safety regulations are being tightened worldwide and food safety management is being standardized according to private standards, and the knowledge required for food safety management by businesses has increased compared to 10 to 20 years ago.For the future development of the food industry, it is a major issue to secure human resources who have the basic knowledge required in the industry regarding food safety and who can participate in international discussions on safety management.
Therefore, Kagoshima University, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan McDonald's Co., Ltd. and others will work together to develop an educational program to develop professional human resources related to food safety at Kagoshima University.The program is scheduled to start at Kagoshima University in the first half of 2018.
Part of the program will be a lecture by McDonald's Japan, and for the future, a training course for auditors of food safety management standards will be incorporated, and a certificate of completion will be issued to the students.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries cooperates in providing administrative information, world affairs on food safety, information on standards and certification, and introduction of lecturers.In addition, while utilizing the education program of Kagoshima University, we will consider setting up a forum for discussions aimed at expanding and standardizing the implementation of education programs for the development of human resources specializing in food safety in the future.
