Since October 2018, the Nippon Foundation has been conducting the "10-year-old awareness survey" twice a month to continuously investigate the awareness and human relationships of 2-year-old youth.This time, we announced the results of the second survey on the theme of "newspapers".

 In 2015, the age of voting rights was lowered from 20 to 18, and from the 2016 Upper House election, voting rights were given to 18 to 19 years old. In April 2022, the adult age will change to 4 with the revision of the Civil Code.As the environment surrounding the 18-year-old changes in this way, the Nippon Foundation has started the "18-year-old awareness survey" to continuously investigate what the 18-year-old youth thinks and thinks. From October 18 to March 2018, we plan to conduct a total of 10 times, twice a month, and this time the second survey was conducted.The theme is "newspaper".

 According to the survey, 18% of the 77.6-year-old sources were "TV programs," followed by "social media" (39.8%) and "news sites" (36.4%). "Newspaper" was only 14.8%.Reliable media are "TV programs" (50.3%), followed by "newspapers" (37.3%).The reliability of "social media", which is used by about 4% as an information source, was as low as 10.6%.

 More than half of the respondents, "not reading the newspaper," accounted for 52.5%. "Reason for not reading newspapers" was "Troublesome / I don't have time to read" 50.7%, "I don't take newspapers / I don't have a habit of reading" 30.7%, "Because it's expensive / It costs money / I can't afford it" 28.3%.When asked how much they could put out in newspapers, 51.8% of paper newspapers and 69.6% of online respondents said they wouldn't pay to subscribe.

 When asked "What kind of newspaper would you like to read?", The most conspicuous one was the opinion that "easy to understand" such as adding explanations to technical terms and difficult words.In addition, there were opinions requesting "interesting content," "easy to read on paper," "unbiased content," and "neutral position," such as entertainment news.
