The Kyoto University Graduate School of Comprehensive Survival Studies aims to establish "Comprehensive Survival Studies" to solve social problems related to the survival of humanity, and to produce global leaders who can play an active role in solving social issues from a wide range of science and liberal arts fields. Shishukan). On Monday, November 11th, the university will hold an international symposium, its biggest event of the year.

This international symposium, now in its 12th year, was held in February 2013 to clarify the skills and ethics essential for global leaders who can lead to solutions to global and social issues, and to share experiences related to the education and development of global leaders. It was started with the aim of establishing an international cooperative system to achieve this goal.In the past 2 to 1 sessions, we have presented essential perspectives on the image of society that we should aim for.At the 10th session held last year, we discussed ``integrated knowledge'' from two perspectives: the evaluation of transdisciplinarity in Europe, and education and research at domestic graduate schools, including the Institute for Integrated Survival Studies. The purpose of this course is for both students and teachers to understand the duality that exists between the specialization and interdisciplinarity of each academic field, and to think about how to effectively evaluate "general knowledge."

This time, marking 10 years since the first event, we will continue the 11th edition with ``The Challenges of Transdisciplinary Education and Research: What Can Japanese University Learn from the European Experience''. The discussion was titled "What can Japanese universities learn from this experience?"We will explore how interdisciplinary approaches are actually utilized in research and education at universities in Europe and Japan, the causes of their successes and failures, and apply them to the development of comprehensive survival studies in Kyoto, Japan. I want to go there.

We are looking forward to the participation of students who are interested in the cutting edge of learning at the Graduate School of Comprehensive Knowledge, the Institute for Comprehensive Survival Studies, and those who aspire to become global leaders working on social change.
