In response to the Noto Peninsula earthquake, which occurred less than two weeks before the Common University Entrance Examination, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology issued a notice to all national, public, and private universities nationwide requesting special consideration for students affected by the disaster. They are requesting flexible measures even after the entrance exam, such as extending the enrollment procedure period, extending the deadline for paying admission fees and tuition fees, and offering exemptions and exemptions.

According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the notification was sent to the presidents of public and private universities in each country under the name of Takagi Ikeda, director-general of the Higher Education Bureau. In this regard, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has made inquiries regarding the application process for university entrance exams, including those who were unable to apply within the predetermined period among those who were affected by the disaster, those whose application documents and entrance exam tickets were burnt due to the disaster, and those who have obtained application documents from the universities they wish to apply to. Anticipating that some people may be unable to do so, or find it difficult to apply online due to delays in the restoration of the telecommunications environment, they called for flexible measures such as extending the application period.

The request was made to consider allowing students to submit their application documents after the fact, citing the possibility that the high school they graduated from was damaged by the disaster and may not be able to issue documents such as research reports or graduation certificates. Furthermore, the government is asking for consideration to ensure that students affected by the disaster do not lose the opportunity to take the exam, by extending the deadline for paying entrance exam fees, reducing exemptions, and holding the exam on a different date.
