Women's University of Nutrition will change the name of the Department of Health and Nutrition's ``Nutrition Science Major'' to the ``Nutrition Innovation Major'' from April 2025 (planning for a name change is in progress). As a university with a faculty of nutrition, the aim is to clearly express the educational goals of each department and major in order to develop human resources who have acquired advanced specialized knowledge and practical skills. Please note that students who enrolled before 4 will use their names at the time of enrollment.

 Advances in AI and the Internet have brought about major changes in our lives and society, and in fields related to food and health, we have apps that check the balance of nutrition and exercise, online services that make it easy to purchase ingredients and dishes, and food allergy-friendly products and menu development. New value, such as information dissemination, is being created one after another.

 On the other hand, social issues in this field are becoming more complex, and there is a need for human resources with specialized knowledge and skills to help solve them. In the "Nutrition Innovation Major", in addition to the knowledge and skills as a nutritionist, you will learn how to analyze huge amounts of data and derive answers scientifically. Three areas will be established: Wellness Area, Nutritional Data Science Area, and Clinical Laboratory Science Area.

 In the "Food and Wellness Area", we comprehensively understand food production, processing, distribution, and consumption, and develop various food and wellness businesses such as food, beauty, and pharmaceuticals to help people live vibrant lives (wellness). Develop human resources who can create new value and products.

 In the ``Nutritional Data Science Area,'' students acquire the ability to analyze and utilize diverse and large amounts of data on nutrients, foods, and meals, and develop new ideas using AI and ICT in business, government, and research institutions such as universities. Develop human resources who can create new products and services.

 In the field of clinical laboratory science, students will be able to understand the influence of diet on biological test data, acquire appropriate testing techniques and judgment, and play an active role in the medical field as human resources who can contribute to the prevention, early detection, and treatment of diseases. Train clinical laboratory technicians.

 In the Food and Wellness field and Nutrition Data Science field, in addition to studying the field, it is also possible to obtain a Class 1 home economics teacher's license. In addition, we will train home economics teachers who are strong in utilizing data science in home economics education and solving social issues such as food systems and food security.
