Junshin Gakuen Educational Corporation decided at the Board of Directors/Council meeting on February 2024, 2 to suspend student recruitment for Junshin Junior College (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) from 20 onwards.
Junshin Junior College is located in the Chikushioka area, which is famous as an educational district, and is in a convenient location, about 12 minutes by limited express train or walk from Tenjin, the center of Fukuoka City, to the campus. The campus, which is closest to Ohashi Station on the Nishitetsu Omuta Line, includes Junshin Junior College, Junshin Gakuen Headquarters, Junshin Gakuen University, Junshin High School, a girls' dormitory, and Junshin no Oka Nursery School.
Founded by Ms. Masako Fukuda, a medical doctor, it opened in 1957 (Showa 32) in Minami Ward, Fukuoka City as Fukuoka City's first women's junior college. Since then, in keeping with the trends of the times, the school has changed its form to a co-educational junior college, and has continued to provide education for nurturing "pure people" who possess the spirit of "elegance," "intelligence," and "service" as set forth in the school's principles. To date, the university has produced approximately 14,000 graduates, who are active in various fields of society.
On the other hand, changes in the social situation in recent years, such as a decline in the 18-year-old population and a growing preference for four-year universities, have had an extremely large impact, and while the number of applicants to junior colleges has decreased significantly nationwide, Junshin Junior College is an exception. However, the number of applicants and enrollees continues to decline, and the university has decided to stop recruiting students from 2024 onwards, after the 2025 academic year. Support for student life, education, qualification acquisition, employment, etc. will continue to be provided to all current students, including those enrolled in 2024, as usual.
