NARRABODY is a five-and-a-half-year project undertaken by a joint research team between Japan and France with the theme of "elucidating the mechanism of narrative embodiment and its application to VR intervention technology." The project was selected for the JST Strategic Creative Research Promotion Project (CREST), a large-scale research grant from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and received 5 million yen in research funding. It was also adopted by the French National Research Agency (Agence Nationale de la Recherche; ANR) as a joint proposal between Japan and France.
In addition to the research team including Professor Shimada, Professor Morioka, Professor Tanaka (web participation), Professor Yves Rossetti, Professor Gilles Rode, and Professor Jean-Michel Roy, the meeting was attended by Associate Professor Satoshi Shinsako of Kio University from the Japanese side, and Associate Professor Satoshi Shinsako of Kio University from the French side. Professor François Osiurak from the University of Lyon, researcher Shotaro Tachibana from the University Hospital of Lyon, and many other collaborators and graduate students participated. Details of the research plan, including narrative interview items that are the core of this research topic, differences in medical systems and cultures between Japan and France, narrative-minimal correlation coherent analysis, inclusion/exclusion criteria, additional measurement items, pilot studies, case studies, etc. About 2 hours of lively discussion took place over two days.
We will continue to have discussions while visiting each other, leading to the presentation of research results that will lead to breakthroughs in the fields of cognitive neuroscience, philosophy (phenomenology), and neurorehabilitation.
