Temple University Japan Campus (TUJ) will begin a program in its undergraduate computer science department that will allow students to study and graduate exclusively at the Japan Campus starting in the fall semester of September 2024. At TUJ, where the number of students is increasing, we are working hard to improve the quality of education, and this initiative is part of that effort.

TUJ's Department of Computer Science has been in existence for more than 10 years, and in recognition of the importance of computer science in global business, we specialize in algorithms, software engineering, computer architecture, programming languages, data structures, operating systems, networks, artificial intelligence, and images. You can learn a wide range of major areas such as processing.

The course was originally designed to be studied for two years each in Japan and at our main school in the United States, but in 2 it was revised to ``2023+3,'' with students taking the first three years at TUJ and completing the last year at our main school in Philadelphia, United States. A study abroad program was established.

From fall 2024, in response to the further increase in popularity of the department, we will increase the number of courses and instructors and begin a program that allows students to complete and graduate only at the Japan Campus, with the aim of improving the quality of education. With this change, the Department of Computer Science will become the 12th major at TUJ.

President Matthew Wilson said of the initiative, "It aligns with TUJ's strategic goals and commitment to student skill development, while meeting demand and significantly enhancing the educational experience for computer science students. As a top-class American university, it is a great honor for us to be able to provide computer-related education in Japan."

The number of students enrolled in TUJ's undergraduate programs has increased rapidly in recent years. One possible contributing factor is the successive introduction of new majors, minors, and certificate programs. In the fall semester of 2023, we will open the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management based on strong requests from students and the current situation of Japan's tourism and hospitality industry. In the same year, they also launched an e-sports certificate program, making them a pioneer in e-sports education in Japan.

In addition, we are focusing on creating an environment where it is easy for students based in Japan to study at Temple University's main campus in the U.S., and we have created a ``Fly to Philly Program'' that significantly reduces the cost of studying at Temple University's main campus in the United States. Continue to provide. TUJ Kyoto will open in January 2025, giving TUJ students the opportunity to study at Temple University's Rome campus as well as at TUJ Kyoto.
