A new store, ``Omusubi Yui,'' run by Sodai Tsuchiya, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Service Creation, has opened in the ``Student Venture Cafeteria'' set up in the campus cafeteria space of Chiba University of Commerce (Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture). .

In order to provide students with the opportunity to start their own businesses, Chiba University of Commerce is implementing the ``Student Venture Cafeteria'' program, which gives students the right to open three cafeteria spaces on campus. When opening a restaurant, we conduct a selection process that emphasizes management structure, hygiene management, appropriateness of income and expenditure plans, and whether the menu and prices are attractive, in order to entrust the important business of providing food. Student business owners who pass the screening will complete a series of preparations necessary to open a restaurant, including obtaining food sanitation supervisor qualifications, business licenses, and filing a notification to the tax office to open a private business. The opening period is one year, and the university will decide whether to continue after that after confirming business results.

Mr. Tsuchiya, who recently gained management rights and opened Omusubi Yui, has experience collaborating with local companies on projects and seminars for the Faculty of Service Creation. As a result of this experience, I became more aware of my desire to engage in activities that are more rooted in the local community and to expand my circle of interaction with local people, which led me to take on this challenge with the theme of connecting the university with the local community, and between people.

``Omusubi Yui'' has a menu centered around ``rice balls eaten with chopsticks'' to solve the food concerns of busy students such as ``I don't have time'' and ``I want to eat easily.'' The store's name reflects the idea of ``connecting the university, the community, and people.'' When opening the store, they negotiated with JA Ichikawa to purchase non-standard vegetables, and are also working on local production and local consumption and food loss. The company also raised funds through crowdfunding and prepared 710 "Mirai Rice Ball Tickets" that can be used to provide free rice balls to local children.

``Student Venture Shokudo'' also has ``Manbukuro Dining,'' which mainly serves rice bowls, and ``Shoten,'' which mainly serves hot snacks. ``Manbukuro Dining'' offers ``delicious,'' ``cheap,'' and ``large portions'' products such as stamina bowl, levanilla bowl, and shrimp tempura mayo sauce bowl, and is continuously run by alumni. With the theme of ``quick delivery for busy people,'' ``Shoten'' offers menus that satisfy students' appetites in the time between classes.

Please note that the student cafeterias at Chiba University of Commerce, including the student venture cafeteria, can be used by people other than students and faculty (excluding long holidays such as the university's summer vacation and school holidays).
