Chiba University of Commerce is working to become a ``2023% natural energy university'' by 100, and aims to generate the same amount of energy as the university uses through the university's mega solar power plant and the rooftop of Ichikawa Campus. This is covered by solar power generation equipment.
Therefore, with the aim of further expanding the introduction of renewable energy, we built a farming-type solar power generation facility in Midori Ward, Chiba City, called the Chiba University of Commerce Okido Solar Power Plant, and introduced farming-type solar power generation facilities that utilize farmland outside the university. I do. Construction of the power plant will begin in February and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March. The generated electricity will be sold by CUC Energy Co., Ltd. to retail electricity provider UPDATER Co., Ltd. under an "off-site corporate PPA" contract, and Chiba University of Commerce will purchase it at a fixed price.
Furthermore, at the Okido Solar Power Plant, crops such as sweet potatoes are grown below the solar panels. It will also be used as a place for students and local residents to interact. We will also hold events that contribute to regional revitalization, making it a project that coexists with the local community. The Ichikawa Campus also cultivates grapes using agricultural solar power to produce domestic wine, and the Okido Solar Power Plant is the second example of farmland being used.
Chiba University of Commerce will continue to spread the use of regionally decentralized natural energy and work towards a transition to a sustainable society.
