In February 2021, Chiba University of Commerce, which has achieved numerous results in efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, became the first domestic university and the only private university to participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) international campaign. "Race to Zero", we announced our goals for 2 and 2030.

``2050 Net Zero'', which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, has become a global challenge.Japan has also announced its goal of becoming carbon neutral (net zero) by 2050, aiming to reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by 2030% in 46 (compared to 2013). "Race to Zero" is a call for action to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and Chiba University of Commerce became the first university in Japan to participate in "Race to Zero" in February 2021. .

Even before Chiba University of Commerce participated in "Race to Zero," it had been working to become a "100% natural energy university," which would equalize the amount of electricity generated by the university's own mega solar Noda power plant and other facilities, and the amount of energy used by the university. We have implemented initiatives such as converting all indoor and outdoor lighting to LEDs, installing rooftop solar power generation on campus, expanding mega solar power generation equipment, switching the Ichikawa campus's electricity usage to electricity derived from renewable energy, and conducting energy-saving awareness activities through the student organization SONE. Ta.

Based on these results, we have announced that we aim to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2040, in order to achieve the "Race to Zero" goals. In the future, we will systematically electrify city gas combustion equipment with renewable energy, consider increasing in-house consumption, improve cost efficiency by procuring cheap renewable electricity, and encourage the entire supply chain to achieve net zero. Promote energy promotion.
