Kinki University has received the "Cashless Vision" of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which aims to raise the ratio of cashless payments to about 2025% by 40. We investigated the actual situation of payment usage.

Based on the "Cashless Vision," Kinki University will use "LINE Pay" to make payments at campus cafeterias from November 2018 with the aim of raising awareness of cashless payments for students and providing opportunities for them to come into contact with new technologies. I can do it.It is also the first Japanese university to issue a student ID card with VISA prepaid function to all 11 students enrolled from April 2017.We are actively working to make it cashless.

According to the survey, the cashless payment utilization rate of 1 first-year students in the Faculty of Business Administration is 597%.However, only 68.2% of the users use it "almost every day", and it was found that the current situation is that it is not used as a daily payment method.Regarding the recognition and usage status of each medium, the recognition and usage rate of transportation IC cards was the highest, followed by credit cards and debit cards. On the other hand, smartphone payments such as "LINE Pay" and "PayPay" are well known, but their usage rate is low, and it is thought that measures other than simple public relations are necessary for their widespread use in the future. When asked what amount of money they think is suitable for cashless payments, 5.0% of students answered that it was 39.7 yen or more, and 10,000% of students answered that it was less than 100 yen.Generally, the merit and feature of cashless payment is "coinless", which means that you do not have to worry about handling small change. It seems that the consciousness is strong and it is close to the image of a credit card.

In the future, Kinki University Faculty of Business Administration Tomo Laboratory and LINE Pay Co., Ltd. will start discussions on the direction of conducting joint research on the spread of cashless payments to young people. In addition, an additional survey cited distrust of payment providers as a cause for students not actively using cashless payments, and what factors cause distrust and how. We plan to conduct research from April 2019 on whether this will eliminate distrust and lead to the use of cashless payments.
