After medically examining "laughter," a research group led by Professor Atsuko Koyama of the Kinki University School of Medicine found that it has the effect of relieving emotions such as tension and anxiety and improving mood.We have developed a method to measure laughter by scoring facial expressions.
The measurement of laughter is a joint research between Kinki University, Yoshimoto Kogyo, OMRON, and NTT West. From February to March, Professor Koyama and his colleagues showed Yoshimoto Shinkigeki, comic storytelling, and rakugo to 2 men and women who were recruited to the general public at Namba Grand Kagetsu in Nanbasennichimae, Chuo-ku, Osaka, and measured facial data and vital data during viewing. , Psychological tests and questionnaire surveys were conducted before and after viewing.
According to it, OMRON's image sensor that can capture human facial expressions in five categories of "true face", "joy", "surprise", "anger", and "sadness" is used for a total of three times, with 5 men and women every two weeks. Facial expression data showed improvements in tension, anxiety, anger, and hostility scores for men and confusion scores for women.
Furthermore, it was found that those with a high degree of laughter improved their depression scores in addition to tension, anxiety, anger, and hostility, and felt better. The research group believes that those who truly enjoyed laughing had more effect.
The research group will continue medical verification and measure the effect of laughter in situations that require laughter, such as job hunting and worries.
