At Saitama Institute of Technology, the curriculum of each department will be renewed in 2020 when expanding to all faculties and departments (2 faculties and 5 departments) of AI education. It provides an introduction to ICT, ICT literacy, and an introduction to artificial intelligence.As a result, all students will be able to learn basic AI-related education from the first year. As of June 2020, distance lessons are being held to prevent infection with the new corona, but AI-related lessons are also being held online.
As an industrial university, Saitama Institute of Technology responded to the government's strategy of "cultivating 2025 human resources who can apply AI in each specialized field annually in 25", and in April 2019, it was the first in Japan to develop domestic personnel. The first AI major was newly established in the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Engineering. In April 4, the Department of Mechanical Engineering established the Department of Robots and Smart Machines compatible with IoT and smart factories.In addition, we provide STEAM education including computer use and ICT literacy education in the basic education of the whole university, and have been working on CAE, analysis, network, data utilization, data science, etc. in the specialized subjects of each department for many years.By combining these experiences with the infrastructure such as AI-related education / research systems and experimental facilities that have already been established, we were able to smoothly start AI education throughout the university this time.
In the scene of utilizing AI-related knowledge, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, failure diagnosis technology using AI-related knowledge, in the Department of Information Sociology, Faculty of Human and Social Studies, decision support by AI, etc. Recently, the number of students working on AI-related themes is increasing even in graduation research.Also, in employment and recruitment, there are an increasing number of cases where students who have acquired AI-related knowledge are required for recruitment requirements from companies, and in order to meet the recruitment needs from industry, AI human resources are recruited throughout the university. We will strengthen training.
