Osaka University was the only one in Japan to be selected for the "Academic Knowledge Co-creation Project Centered on Humanities and Social Sciences" conducted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
This project is a process of considering how the knowledge of Japanese humanities and social sciences can contribute to and what can be done about social issues for which no solution has been sought or has not emerged at present. Aim for systematization. From a long-term perspective 30 to 50 years from now, we will build an environment for various stakeholders, mainly researchers in the humanities and social sciences, to gather their knowledge and create research themes and research teams. The implementation period is from 2020 to 2022.
In the future, Osaka University will hold workshops and symposiums and research with various domestic and overseas stakeholders, centered on the "Social Solution Initiative (SSI) *" with the aim of realizing a "society that values life". We will work on this project while promoting open communication such as building a team.
* The Social Solution Initiative (SSI) is a think tank launched by Osaka University in 2018 to envision a sustainable symbiotic society. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of Osaka University will play a central role in collaborating with researchers in natural sciences such as science and engineering and medical and dental medicine.Furthermore, we are working to discover and solve social issues in collaboration with stakeholders in various societies such as the public sector and private companies.
