Kyoto University and The Nippon Foundation have started a joint research activity, "SCIENCE LEAGUE," in which citizens participate in research together with researchers and work together to propose science of the future of nature. The official website was released on April 2021, 4.

 Until now, the image of research has been far from the lives of ordinary citizens, and when the research content is sophisticated and difficult to understand, there have been few opportunities to come into contact with research activities.

 Therefore, Kyoto University and The Nippon Foundation have established the research league "Science League" as a place to think about environmental issues together so that research becomes more familiar to citizens. In the "Science League", there are various research teams such as e-sports and baseball / soccer leagues, the lead researcher who leads the team is the "director", and the companies and local governments that support the activities are "sponsors". And citizens / consumers can participate as "players" in teams that they sympathize with.

 Currently, the "Science League" is a team "PicSea" that uses artificial intelligence to automatically identify dust from images of dust on the beach or waterside, and the correct environmental information possessed by researchers is used as a "question from the earth". The team "Chikyu", which provides a quiz format that can be enjoyed by both elementary school students and adults, is registered.As a project that citizens can not only watch and support, but also participate in, we will carry out research activities with citizens and aim to cooperate and solve unsolved mysteries together.
