In April 2022, the Faculty of Law, Aoyama Gakuin University, in addition to the "Department of Law", newly added "Law Department" in order to develop human resources who have the ability to analyze and solve human rights problems based on the knowledge of legal mind and adjacent social science fields. We are planning to open "Human Rights Department" (installation notification is in progress).

 "Human Rights Department" with "Human Rights" in the department name to learn human rights as a common value in the international community.Among social issues, especially regarding human rights issues, human imagination that can understand the location of the issue from the standpoint of the parties concerned, insight that can calmly identify the issue, and analytical ability that can accurately evaluate the issue. We aim to develop human resources who have the expressive ability to develop the theory with logical and persuasive sentences, and the problem-solving ability through all of them.

 The curriculum is "Human Rights Site", which provides an opportunity to know and think about the site of human rights issues through documentary videos and lectures by the parties in order to acquire the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to understand and solve human rights issues. In addition to being compulsory every year, a "social research theory" will be offered to learn methods for investigating and analyzing social problems.

 In the second year, "Introduction to Human Rights Law" to learn the basics of human rights law from the perspectives of both constitutional human rights and international human rights law is compulsory, and when considering human rights issues such as poverty and discrimination, Since the approach from the social science field is also important, we also emphasized interdisciplinary study of adjacent fields such as political science, economics, and sociology, and conducted "Introduction to Political Science," "Introduction to Economic Analysis," and "Introduction to Public Policy." It is compulsory for the first year.

 From the second year onward, various thematic courses such as "Poverty and Human Rights," "Gender and Human Rights," "Sexual Minorities and Human Rights," and "Business and Human Rights," and courses where you can learn about human rights issues in the world and Japan in English will be offered.In addition, courses such as "journalism theory" and "journalism training" will be offered with a strong awareness of the role of journalism and the media that take up and report on human rights issues.

 The enrollment capacity of the Human Rights Department is 120 people.With the establishment of the Human Rights Department, the enrollment capacity of the existing law department will be changed to 380 (planned). * Since the installation is being notified, the department name, educational content, capacity, etc. are planned and subject to change.
