After the war, it started as a new university in the year of the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964, but it seems that the international awareness was strong from the beginning as the faculty exchange with the Alaska Methodist University started from the founding period.A few years later, we will dispatch students to the university.The students made the first Alaska travel guide booklet in Japan and spent a month traveling around Alaska. The next year's group not only went around, but the Kendo club taught Kendo, and the automobile club drove Alaska. I went around.He was also enthusiastic about language preparation, and he seemed to have been training camps before traveling.In addition, exchange faculty members from the same university visited the university in the form of overseas training and dispatched faculty members from Japan.Anyway, I heard that the students were full of enthusiasm to open their eyes overseas and study with the aim of becoming a world citizen because they had a broad perspective.

From the beginning, it was a plan to expand to an integrated university, but for a long time, the two departments of the Faculty of Economics, Department of Economics and Department of Commerce continued.However, regarding language education, we have been working on education using information devices such as CAI and CALL Lab from a very early stage.In addition, the number of universities that have signed exchange study abroad (international education) agreements has increased, starting with the Methodist University of Alaska.From an early stage, we have established a system that allows you to graduate in XNUMX years even if you study abroad for XNUMX year by accepting the grades at the study abroad destination as credits.
The opening of the Faculty of Foreign Studies in 1989 gave further impetus to internationalization.Taking this opportunity, the number of exchange study abroad agreement universities has increased, and the number is now abundant at 85 universities.Moreover, one in two students study abroad in the Faculty of Foreign Languages and International Studies, and one in four students study abroad at the university.
Partner universities have also expanded from the United States and Canada to Australia and New Zealand, and recently to Southeast Asia such as the Philippines and Thailand, and Eastern European countries such as Poland.This tendency is further strengthened by the establishment of the Faculty of International Cultural Studies (Department of International Cultural Studies, Department of International Cooperation), which aims not only to specialize in language learning but also to emphasize multicultural and cross-cultural direct contact, and is located in Ache, Indonesia. We have also signed an agreement with a Muslim university called Almuslim University, and students come and go to each other for about a month.
