Tohoku University Cyber Science Center, KDDI Research, Inc., Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd., Hitachi Solutions East Japan Co., Ltd., and RIKEN are collaborating with "Horizon 2020 (* 1)" implemented by the European Commission.Demonstration of utilizing data acquired from sensors installed in the Tagonishi district of Miyagino-ku, Sendai City to verify the "practicality of the iKaaS (intelligent Knowledge-as-a-Service * 2) platform" that takes privacy into consideration. The experiment will be conducted from February 2017th to September 2th, 24 in collaboration with the European Commission.

"IoT data" and "utilization of big data" have been considered for the realization of smart cities. However, various problems such as collecting a sufficient amount of data, the cost of constructing an optimal analysis method, and the appropriate handling of privacy-related data are obstacles to utilization. In order to solve these problems, while making effective use of existing systems, data and analysis methods should be shared by combining multiple systems, and appropriate disclosure should be made according to different access rights for each data. Is required.

In particular, when sharing data and analysis methods internationally, disclosure control must be realized in consideration of differences in privacy legal systems between nations. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, research and development of the project started.

As an initiative so far, research institutes in Japan and Europe have jointly formulated the requirements for realizing the platform, and have shared the development of basic technologies. And this time, through the platform, we conducted a demonstration experiment assuming a town management service in the area.Power consumption and power generation amount by integrating and processing all kinds of data such as sensor information installed indoors and outdoors, urban space data existing in different clouds, weather related data, etc. while controlling disclosure in consideration of privacy etc. We aim to improve the efficiency of forecasting.

The project will continue until September this year, and the results will be summarized as a final report. In addition, each research institution will continue to promote research and development regarding its subsequent dissemination and development.

* 1: EU research innovation framework plan totaling 2014 billion euros for 2020 years from 7 to 800.
* 2: An advanced knowledge-intensive platform that incorporates functions that consider privacy and security in order to distribute a wide variety of data and the knowledge obtained from that data across countries.
