On August 2018, 8, Meiji University Institute for International Weapons Transfer History was promoted to the Special Promotion Research Institute.In the future, we will work toward becoming a world-class research center. On August 1, an international symposium will be held by gathering experts who are active in the front lines of research and practice in Japan and overseas.
The International Institute for Weapons Transfer History was established at Meiji University in 2015 as a research cluster for up to five years to promote priority area research.From a comprehensive perspective including economic history, international affairs history, imperial history, military history, etc., weapons transfer and disarmament / arms control, the relationship between the weapons industry and the nation, and the proliferation of weapons will support the development of the international community and developing countries. Focusing on the impact, the purpose is to clarify the problems of the modern world.This time, based on the past activity results, we will position the institute as an affiliated research institute of Meiji University, "Special Promotion Research Institute", and aim to build a world-class research center.
From August 2018 to 8, 20, the "24th Conference of the Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)" chaired by Japan will be held in Tokyo.Prior to that, on August 4, as the first attempt to become a special promotion research institute, an international symposium will be held at the Surugadai Campus of Meiji University by gathering experts from Japan and overseas.At the symposium, we will explain the ideals and reality of past and present arms regulation, and important issues for the "8th Conference of the Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)".There is no membership fee.Those who wish to participate must pre-register from the registration form of the Meiji University International Weapons Transfer History Research Institute by August 18, 4.
