A research group led by Professor Yasuhiro Hayashi of Waseda University's Faculty of Science and Engineering has put together a "Waseda University E-MaaS (Mars, * 1) concept" that aims to realize a smart city by optimizing power and transportation. With the aim of providing scientific evidence and indicators to urban administration, it aims to support the resolution of various issues in domestic society, such as achieving reductions in carbon dioxide and improvement in public transport utilization at the same time.
According to Waseda University, a research group led by Professor Yasuhiro Hayashi is developing a "spatio-temporal multi-dynamics prediction engine" that integrally analyzes and predicts data such as power, traffic, and flow of people.Utilizing this, we aim to realize a society with low carbon dioxide emissions that makes maximum use of renewable energy, and to realize a city without travel stress by optimizing the timetable operation of public transportation.
Electric power is analyzing smart data that has been advanced for one year in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, and is proceeding with visualization as shown on the map, and transportation is analyzing data obtained in the MaaS social experiment conducted in Utsunomiya City.
Regarding the realization of smart cities, the central ministries and agencies of the government have collaborated in many demonstration projects, but so far, electricity and transportation have been optimized separately. For this reason, it was difficult to study the overall optimum that satisfies different conditions at the same time.
* 1 MaaS A new concept of movement that regards movement from the departure point to the destination as one service by the most suitable means of transportation. It means that the means of transportation will be optimized as a service by fusing with IT technology.
