The Kinki University Atomic Energy Research Institute received the "13th Atomic Energy Society of Japan Kansai Branch Award (Achievement Award)" in recognition of its reconstruction support activities after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The award ceremony was held at the branch meeting held on June 2016, 6.

 The Kansai Branch of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan is a general incorporated association established in April 1959 with the aim of promoting nuclear research and disseminating knowledge in the Kansai region.Within the jurisdiction of the branch, a wide range of public relations activities such as nuclear power and radiation, as well as academic and technical support activities are carried out, and awards are given to individuals or groups who have made significant contributions.The Kinki University Atomic Energy Research Institute received the same award in 4 for "Long-term practice of Kinki University nuclear reactor experiential learning and contribution to nuclear power dissemination activities", and this is the second time.

 What was evaluated was the five-year reconstruction assistance for Kawamata Town, Fukushima Prefecture, which was affected by the nuclear accident. Utilizing the research capabilities of a comprehensive university with 5 faculties and 14 departments, we launched a cross-faculty all-Kindai project to support the early reconstruction of Kawamata Town, Fukushima Prefecture.

 As a specific activity, we propose the bio-coke technology developed by Kinki University for the transportation of decontamination waste.As a project of the Ministry of the Environment, a demonstration experiment was conducted in Kawamata Town.In addition, an integrated dosimeter (glass badge) that measures individual radiation doses will be distributed to all children and junior high school students in the town, and the radiation doses will be measured every three months and the results will be reported to parents.We have held consultation meetings on radiation health anxiety.In addition, we have been working on the trial cultivation of agricultural products aiming at the special products of the new town, and the development of technology to remove radioactive substances from contaminated water.
