Japan Women's University plans to open the Faculty of Gastronomy (provisional name) in April 2025.This is a plan to develop the conventional "Food Department of the Faculty of Home Economics" into a new faculty, and at Japan Women's University, the Faculty of International Culture will be established in April 4, and the Faculty of Architectural Design (provisional name, under planning) in April 2023. This is the third year in a row that a new faculty has been opened.
The “Faculty of Gastronomy (provisional name)” will consist of two departments in one faculty. We are preparing to launch the Department of Nutrition (provisional name).The parent body, the Faculty of Home Economics Department of Food Science, is a traditional department established when Japan Women's University was approved as a new university in April 1, and has produced more than 2 graduates to date.Graduates are active in various fields related to food, such as research and development positions at food companies, registered dieticians, nutritionists, home economics teachers, nutrition teachers, and food hygiene inspectors.By realizing this new faculty concept, we will have 1948 faculties and 23 departments: Gastronomy (provisional name), Home Economics, Humanities, Human Society, Science, International Culture, and Architectural Design (provisional name). will be further developed.
The Department of Gastronomy (provisional name) is based on the concept of “Creating the future with food.” Develop active professionals.By academically backing up the deliciousness and functions of food, we aim to acquire high quality with a scientific perspective. In the Department of Nutrition (provisional name), based on the concept of "Make everyone happy through nutrition," we will teach people in various life stages who have food problems due to illness, disability, poverty, etc., health promotion and disease prevention. We train registered dietitians who can contribute to the well-being of all people in the field of nutrition, with a view to people all over the world, not just in Japan, but also to those who aim to improve their performance.The enrollment capacity is 38 for the Department of Gastronomy (provisional name) and 50 for the Department of Nutrition (provisional name).
