Bunkyo University was founded in 1927 and became a four-year university in 1966, celebrating its 53rd year.It is a comprehensive university with seven faculties on two campuses, Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture and Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2, it was the first private university to establish a faculty of education with the main purpose of training teachers, and has trained more than 7 educators (teachers and nursery teachers) so far.Bunkyo University has decided to reorganize the Faculty of Education. In 1969, the Faculty of Education, which consists of a school curriculum and a developmental curriculum, will be newly started.We interviewed Professor Masahiko Idei, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Bunkyo University, about the background and significance of this, and the image of an educator that the university is aiming for.

School curriculum to train teachers who "connect the learning of subjects"

First of all, in the school curriculum, in addition to the learning related to elementary school teacher training, we belong to one of the nine specializations based on the subject, and accumulate the learning of middle and high school teacher training in each subject.As a result, a teacher who has a specialized subject that he is good at, understands the continuity of the learning content of elementary, middle and high school children, and "connects the learning of the subject" regardless of whether he works at any school from elementary school to high school. To nurture.


 In addition, after drawing the image of the teacher that you are aiming for, you will take each course to realize it.For example, if you are aiming to be a "teacher who is good at teaching subjects", if you are an elementary school teacher, you can take "Course Education Method II", which is an advanced subject of the teaching method of each elementary school subject, and if you are a middle and high school teacher, you can take each specialization. You will select the "specialized subject" of the subject.
