Kobe City University of Foreign Studies holds the "Model United Nations World Congress" for the first time in Japan.Students from universities around the world discussed international issues.
The Model United Nations World Congress is the largest model United Nations activity by university students sponsored by the United Nations Federation of Student Councils (NCCA) and supported by the United Nations.Discuss as a diplomat in the assigned country.There is a New York tournament held every spring and a tournament held in autumn outside the United States, which was the first time in Japan.It was sponsored by Kobe City University of Foreign Studies and NCCA.
Approximately 11 students from universities in 20 countries around the world will participate in the 7-day program from November 11th. After three days of inspections (Kobe, Kyoto, Hiroshima), we started full-scale discussions at the Kobe International Conference Center and other venues.Following the keynote speech by Motohide Yoshikawa, the former Ambassador of Japan to the United Nations, the United Nations General Assembly and the Security Council were divided into four committees, and lively discussions were held in English only.Students at the university played a central role, such as the secretary-general, the administrative vice-minister, and the chairman of the committee, leading the conference.On the final day, the results of discussions by each committee were reported and the awards ceremony for the excellent teams was held.
