Chiba University announced that it will open a new student dormitory in the Konakadai area from April 2016.The new dormitory is a "mixed living type" where Japanese students and international students live together.By providing students with a global environment, we will create opportunities for international exchange and promote the construction of the university's policy of "Global Campus Chiba University" while aiming to improve cooperation and communication skills.
The name of the student dormitory to be opened has been decided as "Kaorufu Dormitory" by open recruitment of students and faculty members.The lyrics of the current dormitory song are inherited from the phrase "Kaorufu", and we hope that the dormitory will start as a freshly blowing dormitory with a new style.
The location of "Kaorufu Dormitory" will be built in Inage Ward, Chiba City, 8 minutes from JR Inage Station and 20 minutes to Nishi-Chiba Campus.It is a five-story rebar and has 5 private rooms in total, which will accommodate 170 people (male students) on the 1st to 3rd floors and 100 people (female students) on the 4th to 5th floors.The area is 70 square meters in each room.In the future, we will accept Japanese students in the existing international student dormitories in the same district, and in the future we will build two more mixed-living student dormitories with the aim of making the district a global space.
The format in which Japanese students and international students live together, such as the student dormitory, has been promoted by universities with the main educational purpose of global human resource development, such as International Christian University, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, and International Liberal Arts University.
