At Chiba University of Commerce, students of the Faculty of Policy and Information Studies produced a paper file using "printing paper containing used tea leaves" as part of their SDGs efforts. This paper file is distributed at the Chiba University of Commerce Open Campus 2023.
"Printing paper containing used tea leaves" was jointly developed by soft drink manufacturer ITO EN Co., Ltd. and paper manufacturer Hokuetsu Corporation. It is made by mixing used tea leaves. The tea leaves used for 4 sheets of A100 size paper are said to contain the amount used to extract about eight 525ml plastic bottles of "Oi Ocha".
Students from the Faculty of Policy and Information Sciences participated in a workshop "Learning about corporate social activities through paper" planned by Kato Bunmeisha, a printing company. After learning about the development history and manufacturing method of "printing paper containing used tea leaves," I sympathized with the concept of ITO EN's "Used Tea Leaves Recycling System." I came to think that I would like to cooperate in the spread of "printing paper containing used tea leaves".
Therefore, the students proposed changing from the clear plastic files distributed at open campuses to paper files made with "printing paper containing used tea leaves," which contributes to climate warming countermeasures. As for the design, a design competition was held for students of the Faculty of Policy and Information Studies, and three proposals were adopted.
Students will continue to promote ITO EN's promotion of "used tea leaves as a useful We aim to help contribute to a recycling-oriented society that makes "" the common sense of society.
