Kitasato Research Institute, an educational corporation that operates Kitasato University, and Junten Gakuen, an educational corporation that operates Junten Junior High School and Junten High School, have signed a basic agreement to begin discussions toward a corporate merger.The target date for the merger is April 2026, 4.After the merger, the surviving corporation, Kitasato Research Institute, will also operate Junten Junior High School and Junten High School.
According to the Kitasato Research Institute and Junten Gakuen, Junten Gakuen's founding spirit, "Junten Guai" (pursuing the truth according to the providence of nature), and the Kitasato Research Institute's corporate philosophy, "Respect life and understand the truth of life." The two companies will proceed with merger discussions in order to maintain consistency and create a distinctive educational environment, based on the idea that the two schools have an affinity for "investigating and contributing to society with a spirit of practical learning."
According to Junten Junior High School and Junten High School, the school will inherit the character "Junten" in its name, and will continue to provide teaching staff, location, and guidance on entering universities in Japan and abroad, but from 2026, it will become an affiliated school internally. Junten Gakuen was founded in 1834 by Riken Fukuda, a mathematician who was active from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period.It operates Junten Junior High School and Junten High School, co-educational middle and high schools in Kita Ward, Tokyo, with approximately 1,100 students attending.It has no connection with Juntendo University.
