The Chuo University Faculty of Science and Technology will establish a new D&I (diversity and inclusion) subject from April 2024, and will establish a diversity lounge on the Korakuen campus as a D&I base. To commemorate this, a symposium on the theme of diversity and inclusion will be held on March 4, 2024 (Thursday) at Korakuen Campus.
As social demands (needs) for the realization of a more diverse and inclusive society increase, there is a growing need for people to take on the challenges of science and technology as well as the complex challenges faced by modern society. Developing human resources who can clarify problems, proactively work toward problem solving, find appropriate solutions, and maintain an attitude of trying to acquire such skills.'' (Faculty of Science and Engineering Diploma Policy) For Chuo University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, which aims to achieve this goal, establishing an educational system for D&I has become an urgent issue. With the establishment of the new D&I subject in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, we aim to develop human resources who can meet the needs of society more broadly, while also keeping in mind the relationship with science and technology.
On March 3th (Thursday), in commemoration of the establishment of new D&I subjects and the establishment of the D&I hub "Diversity Lounge," an educational innovation promotion project symposium "Science and Engineering D&I Education Opens the Future: Diversity and Inclusion in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Chuo University" will be held. D&I) New Developments in Education and Creation of Practical and Inclusive Learning Places'' will be held in the small hall on the 14rd floor of Building 3 on the Chuo University Korakuen Campus.
At the symposium, there were keynote speeches on the three areas of D&I (gender and sexuality area, disability area, and global area), an introduction to D&I initiatives at three institutions (Chuo University, Ochanomizu University, and Bunkyo Ward), and an introduction to the D&I initiatives newly established at Chuo University's Faculty of Science and Engineering. D&I subjects will be explained. Anyone can participate, with no advance application or participation fee required.
