On March 2024, 3, Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University held a press conference and stated that starting from 15, the university will focus on three pillars: ``faculty reorganization (establishing the ``Faculty of Lifestyle Co-creation'' through reorganization), ``entrance examination reform,'' and ``co-education.'' announced the implementation of reforms.

Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University, which started as a home economics research institute, will celebrate its 2023th anniversary in 100. The main field of "home economics" is a practical comprehensive science that contributes to improving the quality of life and the welfare of humankind, and is an academic field that can be said to be a pioneer in the fusion of the arts and sciences, but its significance and role are not fully understood. . Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University, which laid the foundation for home economics, believes that developing home economics as a truly gender-free discipline is the mission of Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University, which has built the foundations of home economics, and will carry out drastic reforms in the home economics department, which is facing a decline in applicants. Aiming for the sustainable development of Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University, we will implement reforms based on the three pillars of ``faculty reorganization,'' ``entrance examination reform,'' and ``coeducation'' starting in 2025 (Reiwa 7).

In terms of "faculty reorganization," we will open the "Faculty of Lifestyle Co-creation" on the Machida Campus from April 2025. Based on ``home economics,'' which can be said to be an interdisciplinary and pioneer of the fusion of the arts and sciences, as it deals with a wide range of areas such as clothing, food, housing, and children, students develop the ability to ``create together'' by collaborating with those around them. Two departments will be established: the Department of Lifestyle Co-creation and the Department of Child Education, and the Department of Lifestyle Co-creation will offer three courses: Lifestyle Innovation, Living Environment Design, and Food Science. The Department of Lifestyle Co-creation has three courses, but the entrance exam will be conducted on a department-by-department basis, and students will be asked to indicate their preferred course when applying. Please note that the educational organization to which students belong and the faculty organization to which faculty members belong are separated, and faculty members belong to the ``Lifestyle Co-creation Studies Department'', which is separate from the undergraduate departments.

As part of the ``Entrance Examination Reform,'' the ``Assertive Program/Assertive Entrance Examination'' will be implemented for all faculties and departments starting with the 2025 entrance exam. Assertiveness is a psychological term meaning ``self-expression that values both oneself and others.'' The assertiveness program encourages the development of the three elements of academic ability in each high school student and helps them acquire the ability to enrich their studies at university. A program that trains and verifies that the child will stick to it. The Assertive Entrance Examination is a comprehensive selection entrance exam system that performs multifaceted and comprehensive evaluation based on the assumption of an assertive program, and is scheduled to be implemented on a dedicated application basis. The recruitment capacity has not yet been determined.

Regarding ``coeducational education'', the Machida campus will become coeducational from 2025, and the Chiyoda Sanbancho campus will become coeducational from 2026. This will be done in stages to ensure that both hardware and software are in place. Changing the university name will be considered in the future. The graduate school has been co-educational since April 2007.
