Rikkyo University and Iwate University will set up a mobile wooden house "Moving House" that can be used as a welfare shelter or temporary temporary housing in the event of a disaster for the first time in Japan so that it can be viewed and experienced. On February 2020, 2, the opening ceremony and preview of the moving house will be held at the "Rikuzentakata Global Campus", and a one-night, two-day hands-on training program will be tried by the parties concerned.

Moving houses are next-generation emergency temporary housing, and are called mobile temporary housing, as opposed to conventional prefabricated construction type and rental type (called deemed temporary housing) that use existing rental housing. ..Since it has been developed as a wooden house that can be used as a general permanent house, it has the same or better housing performance as a general house.

The moving house can be used as a hotel, training facility, etc. in normal times, and can be used as a welfare shelter or temporary housing by loading it on a truck as cargo and moving it instantly in the event of a disaster. Also, unlike a mobile home, it is characterized by being able to form a wide floor plan by connecting it horizontally to a two- or three-story building. It was adopted for the first time in Japan as an emergency temporary housing based on the Disaster Relief Act in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, which was affected by the heavy rains in western Japan in 2, and was subsequently adopted in the 3 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake and 2018 Typhoon No. 2018.

Rikkyo University and Rikuzentakata City signed an "Agreement on Cooperation and Exchange" in May 2012 with the aim of solving regional issues for the city's reconstruction and contributing to the realization and development of regional revitalization. In April 5, we opened the "Rikuzentakata Global Campus" with the local Iwate University.Rikkyo University has set up a satellite on the campus and is promoting its use as a base for exchange activities among citizens, domestic and foreign students / researchers, companies and government officials. This initiative is highly regarded by the Japan Association of Private Universities as "a diverse and distinctive initiative for regional revitalization of private universities."

This time, at the "Moving House" that will be set up in a form that can be viewed and experienced, from March 2020, experience of thinking about evacuation life, continuation of care for children with medical care, housing reconstruction, social stocking of emergency temporary housing, etc. A type of training program will also be started.
