With the spread of the new coronavirus infection making it difficult to practice in the field of education, 4 fourth-year students in the Department of Physical Therapy challenged online clinical training at the Faculty of Welfare, Josai International University.

This online clinical training was realized in collaboration with Josai International University and the "Moving Tips Rehabilitation Center" (Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture), which specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage. With Tatsuya Ikuno, a physiotherapist and representative of the center who wanted to create an opportunity for patients to regain their confidence by playing a social role, they had the issue of how to incorporate the elements of practical training into their online lessons. It was planned mainly by Assistant Professor Yutaka Kuwae of the Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Welfare, Josai International University.

The training was conducted from 2020th to 8th August 17, and students divided into groups of 29 to 4 people interviewed the stroke victims online. The students asked the patient if they had any problems in their lives or if they had any painful symptoms, and asked the physiotherapist near the patient, "I want to check how much my right arm is raised. First, 5 degrees forward. Please raise it to. "And confirmed the patient's symptoms.

Students can experience the "living field" by actually interacting with patients, even though they are online.Because I tried it, I realized that it is difficult to specifically convey the points that the patient should be careful about when getting up from the chair.

From the students who participated, "It was a good study to be able to actually interact with the patient." "Since I can't palpate online, I asked a physiotherapist to do it for me, but the patient. It was difficult to ask specifically what kind of movement he wanted to see. ”“ I fully felt the possibility of seeing patients online. ”
