Associate Professor Mari Ueda of Kanagawa Institute of Technology's Faculty of Informatics and others have developed a new programming learning system that incorporates "reading aloud."A learner reads a text or a program to be input aloud, and the learner hears his/her own utterance to improve the learning effect.

 Is it common for learners to read texts silently in programming learning? Beginners in particular cannot smoothly understand the language and symbols that are important in programming, which leads to insufficient understanding and a decrease in motivation for learning by beginners. was the problem.

 Therefore, Associate Professor Ueda and others tried applying "reading aloud", which is recognized as effective in the fields of neuroscience and education, to programming learning, and confirmed that the learning effect improved.It is thought that the fact that more senses work in the process of "seeing, speaking, and listening" in reading aloud also worked in programming learning.
 
 Based on the results of this trial, the system was systematized and used in actual programming learning. It is expected that "reading aloud" will make learners feel more satisfied than ever before, and that it will be possible to solve the problem of inadequate comprehension and lack of motivation for learning among beginners.

 In the future, we will continue research and development with the aim of improving the accuracy of this result, such as by automatically scoring learning effects and realizing evaluations based on the characteristics of individual learners.The results of this research were published in the English version of Acoustical Science and Technology 2023 Volume 1 Issue 2, issued on January 2023, 44.
