The Automobile Recycling Promotion Center (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation) holds an "automobile recycling site tour" for college students studying economics to learn about the circular economy, with the cooperation of dismantlers in Saitama, Gifu, and Fukuoka prefectures. was held.A total of 53 students from Hitotsubashi University, Ritsumeikan University, and Seinan Gakuin University participated in the tour.
Circular economy is an economic activity that creates added value through services, etc., while reducing resource input and consumption, while effectively utilizing stock, in addition to conventional 3R initiatives. It aims at maximizing the value of waste, minimizing resource consumption, and preventing waste generation.
On the day of the tour, participants first learned about the significance of automobile recycling and the role and efforts of dismantling companies through classroom lectures. We observed how waste is sorted into materials such as iron, copper, and aluminum.
After the tour, participants commented, "I learned that end-of-life vehicles are being recycled with great precision," "I learned that recycled parts are in demand not only in Japan, but also overseas." I learned that automobiles are not waste but valuable resources." It was a valuable opportunity to learn about the roles and efforts of dismantlers to realize a recycling-oriented society.
